Recognizing Enemies

Postby Sir mullo » 10 Feb 2016, 09:29

Hi all

Extremely new to TacBF so please bear with me.

I'm really enjoying the learning curve in this game but my word it is big.

I've grasped most of the early concepts but of course I am shocking at them, time will fix that.

My one big problem is recognizing the enemy. I spend too much time going in and out of the map, checking whats in front of me. Then I spot someone, go into map or someone runs right up on me and I freeze as Im not sure If its an enemy or friendly.

Im sure this has been discussed before, I apologize.

If not, can you give a noob a tip on best practise.

PS - On other mil-sim (I know this isnt one) the SL are good at keeping that infantry line so you know dudes in front/rear/flanks are ei. I find in this mod Squads are alot more independent and head off to different ao's. Thats cool but I find it confusing when engaging enemy.

edit - Ive just been told about the radar. I'll look into this

Yep, radar might be very helpful, and you can adjust it'a radius for your comfort.

You'll get used to all tacbf uniforms soon, its just a question of time and practice.

I'm trying to make TacBF games less random and more hardcore, forcing player to join squads, use smarter tactics and cooperate, so probably we'll see nice Tacticool formations on our maps and squad radars pretty soon :D

I look at guns. Seems to be my most effective way other than the map in identifying enemies.
If you're holding an M4 and they're holding an AK, chances are, they're not on your team (unless the picked up an enemy weapon, in which case, that's their fault.)
Do I care if you hate me? Do you wanna know the truth?
C'est la vie, adios, good riddance, f*** you.

A good thing to practice would be to take into memory what the weapons sound like. While moving into an ao when there are people in contact weapon sounds help me find approximate enemy positions. Also keep an eye on the tracer color.
Other than that its just a thing about experience and patience. So keep at it. :)
